I love my nation like a daughter loves her mother, but lately the news from Ghana has been disturbing. It seems we have forgotten our national mantra “Forward Ever, Backward Never” in favor of Forward Never, Backward Ever! There are crimes being committed that go against the core of who we are not only as Ghanaians but also as human beings. From allegations of arm robbers on buses forcing passengers to commit rape on other passengers to going back to the foolish practice of declaring people as witches & burning them at the stake. Where has our humanity gone as God fearing spiritual children of the creators of civilization to either commit these acts or to make false allegations such as these to tarnish our nation? Where are our true journalists who understand that journalism involves researching a story & not just reporting on heresay? What human being is above God & can decide that he can give & take life? We seem to be losing our way as a nation as politicians, con-artists, evil wishers & the churches line their coiffeurs instead of feeding the souls of their constituents, followers & congregations in goodness, spirituality & true sister/brotherhood. We need our elders to stand up & take us back to basics in knowing ourselves, our history & knowing who we are as Ghanaians, so we do not repeat the evils from the past which failed us in our forward movement! With so much turmoil in Africa, the Black Star Nation that once led the way for the era of the “Wind of Change” that brought African liberation & Africa’s renaissance needs to take inventory of itself in order to take its rightful much needed leadership position once again.
“A grandmother has allegedly been tortured and burned to death by a five-strong group – one of whom is believed to be an evangelical pastor – who accused her of being a witch. Ama Hemmah, 72, suffered the horrific injuries when she was set upon by the mob, who claimed that she admitted to being a witch before drenching her in kerosene and setting her alight. Mrs Hemmah, who was from the port city of Tema, near the Ghanaian capital, Accra, was burned alive in nearby Tema Site 15…” READ MORE

The horrifying experience occurred on Monday, October 11, 2010 between the hours of 1am and 2 am at a spot near Kintampo where the armed robbers struck. A passenger and near-victim who was only spared because she was in her period, Amina Mohammed, narrated on Adom FM’s mid-morning programme, Work and Happiness on Wednesday, October 27, how the gang forced a man to break her own daughter’s virginity as they poked guns at his head to have sex with the about 14-year-old girl or pay with his life….” READ MORE

After the Black Stars did a stellar job at the World Cup in putting our nation on the global map that anyone with half a brain would have turned it into a gold mine introduction to bringing in great revenue in new tourism & investment to a nation with such a rich history in leadership, we would rather play politics & destroy all that hard work in moving us forward. What is wrong with us as Africans that it seems no matter what blessings we receive we find a way to selfishly destroy & squander it because we just refuse to work together when there’s more than enough to share? We have an abundance of resources & the mental capacity for leadership, but we constantly do everything possible to work against that whether it is through the coaxing of neocolonialism or our own uncontrolled greed. Do we forget that we innately have always gathered together & eaten from the same bowl to feed ourselves? Why is it that we can not take this practice from choptime to real time in building & profiting together?
“ACCRA – Investigators from the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO) raided the offices of Ghana Football Association (GFA) here on Tuesday to enforce a high court search warrant. Officials from the EOCO, formerly the Serious Fraud Office, took about three hours to conclude their operation, drawing scores of curious onlookers to the GFA offices where the investigators ransacked the offices of the executives including GFA General Secretary Kofi Nsiah….”READ MORE
“While some football connoisseurs are claiming that the decision by the Economic & Organised Crime Office, EOCO, to investigate the Ghana Football Association amounts to interference, the Daily Post can report that FIFA itself is under investigations from Swiss Authorities.“So, if FIFA itself is being investigated by the Swiss government which hosts FIFA’s headquarters, why can’t one of FIFA’s affiliate bodies also be investigated by the authorities of the country whom it represents?” Daily Post’s source at the Ghana Football Association asked rhetorically…”READ MORE

Shut Up! NDC Boss Tells Volta Chief
“The Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwasi Aboagye, yesterday criticised Togbega Gabusu, paramount chief of the Gbi traditional area, for saying that the NDC government has not fulfilled promises made to the people of the region. The NDC chairman allegedly asked the chief to shut up….” READ MORE
You only have to set foot in the Volta Region to see that the NDC has not fulfilled promises to the people of the Volta Region, yet one of their own ruled for over 20 years & they still champion the NDC each election time-so it’s their own fault for being on the receiving end of the disrespect & constantly being told to “Shut Up” when they voice their grievances. Look at the roads, infrastructural & other developments built & being constructed in Accra, the Eastern Region & other areas of Ghana then ask what infrastructure has been built in the Volta all these years. I went there for the first time 2 years ago & I will never go back until change comes to the Volta! Ghanaians need to get over the setbacks of a tribalistic mentality & work together for the good of the nation as one Ghana-which is what I heard from the people of the Volta, who felt that they were being marginalized & excluded as Ghanaians…but actions on all parts & levels speak louder than words.
“Traveling thru the Volta Region which should take minutes or hours from town to town takes days because the roads consist of rocks, huge potholes & areas where you are basically driving thru mini rivers from rain fall or just the plain fact that the infrastructure in this area has been completely overlooked & underserved, even though Ghana’s former president/dictator/military coup leader,J.J. Rawlings, who ruled over Ghana for 20 plus years hails from this part of Ghana & is the pride & joy heralded by the people of the Volta Region. What makes a horrible situation even worse is the fact that for mere survival some people of the Volta have decided to set up a system very similar to an accepted form of organized crime where there are only certain cars that can take you from town to town. If you want to get thru the Volta to the next town & you do not have your own 4X4 or SUV, you have no choice but to succumb to a system where only a few literally taped together vehicles are the only form of transportation & you must stop in every town, pay another fare to take a different one of these taped together vehicles even if you are willing to pay to take you straight to your destination because they all have their own territories where only their cars can operate….READ MORE
Osageyfo Kwame Nkrumah -Independence Day Speech
“At long last, the battle has ended!
And thus Ghana, your beloved country is free forever.
And yet again I want to take the opportunity to thank the chiefs and people of this country, the youth, the farmers, the women who have so nobly fought and won this battle.
Also I want to thank the valiant ex-service men who have so co-operated with me in this mighty task of freeing our country from foreign rule and imperialism.
And as I pointed out… I made it quite clear that from now on – today – we must change our attitudes, our minds, we must realise that from now on, we are no more a colonial but a free and independent people.
But also, as I pointed out, that also entails hard work.
That new African is ready to fight his own battles and show that after all, the black man is capable of managing his own affairs. We are going to demonstrate to the world, to the other nations, that we are prepared to lay our own foundation.
Our own African identity
As I said in the assembly just minutes ago, I made a point that we are going to create our own African personality and identity. It’s the only way that we can show the world that we are ready for own own battles.
But today, may I call upon you all – that on this great day, let us all remember that nothing in the world can be done unless it’s had the purport and support of God.
We have won the battle and we again re-dedicate ourselves … Our independence is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of Africa.
Let us now fellow Ghanaians, let us now ask for God’s blessing and for only two seconds in your thousands and millions, I want to ask you to pause only for one minute and give thanks to almighty God for having led us through our difficulties, imprisonments, hardships and suffering to have brought us to the end of our trouble today.
One minute silence.
Ghana is free forever and here I will ask the band to play the Ghana national anthem.” Reshaping Ghana’s destiny.
I am depending upon the millions of the country, and the chiefs and people, to help me to reshape the destiny of this country.
We are prepared to pick it up and make it a nation that will be respected by every nation in the world.
We know we are going to have difficult beginnings, but again, I’m relying upon your support, I’m relying upon your hard work.
Seeing you in this… it doesn’t matter how far my eye goes, I can see that you are here in your millions and my last warning to you is that you are to stand firm behind us so that we can prove to the world that when the African is given a chance he can show the world that he is somebody!
We have awakened. We will not sleep anymore. Today, from now on, there is a new African in the world!
