As we head to 2010, the year when the global game of Football will be held on African soil for the first time, with Ghana’s under 20 Black Satellites leading the way as the first African country to win the under 20 World Cup; I am reminded of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah dreams of a United States of Africa with Ghana leading the way as a self sufficient & free African nation through education, science, technology, infrastructural development & agriculture . It seems 2010 will give Ghana & the African continent the opportunity to manifest the dreams of the Africa which Dr. Nkrumah envisioned, but I wonder what does Dr. Nkrumah’s legacy mean to Ghanaians & Africans of today both locally & globally? Will 2010 be Africa’s time & the gathering & unity of a United States of Africa?
