Business/ Profile

What got you started in your business?
My partner Cognito & I each were doing "our own thing" and after successfully working together, we wanted to find a way to bring what we did together under 1 umbrella. We combined our marketing, design, film & photo skills and determined that instead of referring what we were doing as a "collab", we were "Frolab" (where we frolaborate). We've since linked with many other frolaborators on producing events in LA, DC and ATL, on album packaging design and promotion, artist EPK development, websites, identity development & more. We also love to find ways to celebrate the fro with the designs of our original t-shirts, earrings & other products we create for retail.

what is your favorite & least favorite part of your business?
Favorite part? frospotting! With our "Pick Fros Not Fights™" campaign we started to take photos of people we see w/ afros for the site and its great when people love the movement!

least favorite? last minute crazy changes! bless their hearts, some clients just can't make up their mind!

What did you do before you got into your business?
I've been designing logos letterhead, business cards,etc for family & friends, for as long as I remember, and then I figured I should go to school to learn more about it. I did, and then one day I started getting paid to do it... and here we are more than 10 years later.

Frolab is an integrated creative and production resource founded on the concept of 'frolaboration'. We consistently seek new ways to nurture and create experiences that embrace hip hop, art & design.
